Burg Giebichenstein University of Art and Design Halle has been a recognized institution of higher education since 1958. It was developed from 1915 onwards by the architect Paul Thiersch, creating a modern school of arts and crafts dedicated to the "Werkstätten" tradition.
The challenge in designing the new website was to provide a highly flexible, interactive and complex yet minimal & clear framework for all the different kinds of degree courses and user groups (students, professors), allowing them to publish & present their work in greatly individual ways – ranging from puristic text-driven pages to visually intriguing layouts featuring smartly tiled fullscreen images...
